On June 6th, 2024, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) and the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) have awarded over $160,000 to four innovative startups and one incubator at the 2024 Summer Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) Startup Pitch Competition. This competition, held at DOE’s Small Business Forum and Expo in Minneapolis, Minnesota, highlights groundbreaking energy technologies and supports clean technology business incubators across the nation.
Torev Motors, a small company based in Arlington, VA took third place, winning $20,000. Torev Motors has created a next-generation electric motor that increases EV range while reducing the use of rare earth metals, improving efficiency and performance. Dominion Energy Innovation Center nominated them.
