On Thursday, September 19, Virginia Clean Cities hosted the Technology Happy Hour featuring Roush Clean Tech, a major distributor and educator for clean energy vehicles across North America. Tom Hopkins, the Regional Business Development Manager from Roush, centered his talk around propane as a clean energy solution and its potential impact on decarbonization efforts.
Some highlights of Tom’s presentation include:
- Roush Clean Tech has distributed over 50,000 vehicles, accumulated over 2 billion miles, and maintained over 3,500 fleets.
- Over the past 12 years Blue Bird Propane school buses, in partnership with Roush, have deployed 20,000 buses on the roads–in every Canadian province and 49 US states.
- A West Virginia University study found that propane-powered school buses perform 96% cleaner than diesel buses in reducing NOx (nitrous oxide) emissions.
Ultimately, the webinar provided a valuable holistic summary of propane fuel and a few helpful case studies to characterize propane-in-action.
