Brugh’s Mill Country Store in Virginia Opens EV Charging Services from Electrify America

Second Electrify America Charging Station in the U.S. to offer DC 350kW Fast Charger

Fincastle, VA (May 15, 2018) – Brugh’s Mill Country Store in Fincastle, VA has become the second location in the country and first in Virginia to open one of Electrify America’s “ultra-fast” electric vehicle charging stations. About 20 miles north of Roanoke, the Brugh’s Mill Country Store is located along Interstate 81.

“In more than 300 communities across 39 states – many of which are small, rural towns like Fincastle — Electrify America is investing more than $250 million building ultra-fast charging stations to serve both the local residents and travelers passing through,” said BrendanJones, chief operating officer of Electrify America. “Electrify America is thrilled to have found business and investment-friendly partners in Botetourt County and Burgh’s Mill Country Store, and we are hopeful that our investment will be a destination attracting customers, business and interest to the community for years to come.”

The Electrify America charging systems will offer the first-ever certified cooled-cable 150 to 350 kilowatt (kW) DC Fast Chargers. Electric vehicle chargers that offer this kind of power deliver energy for up to 20 miles of range per minute, which is also seven times faster than today’s 50kW DC chargers.

“We are thrilled to offer Electrify America’s charging system,” said David Rader, owner and operator of Brugh’s Mill Country Store. “Our customers are excited that the future of personal transportation is a choice here and now.”

“Botetourt County is exceptionally pleased to have the first Electrify America automotive charging station in Virginia,” said Gary Larrowe, Botetourt County Administrator. “Zero emission vehicles are here to stay and grow as electric car ownership grows. This state of the art charging station will provide local folks and the traveling public a place to energize their automobiles and enjoy our slice of heaven in Botetourt County at Exit 156 off I-81.”

Electrify America, which is investing $2 billion over the next ten years in electric vehicle infrastructure and education, plans to deploy more than 2,000 chargers across 484 sites in 17 metropolitan areas and on highways in 39 states, as part of its Cycle One investment. All the chargers will be “installed or under development” by the end of the cycle in June 2019. Stations will be located at convenient EV charging stops with access to retail, dining, parking and other facilities.
