The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is now accepting applications for the 2025 Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards.
The DEQ’s awards are aimed towards facilities that have been taking sustainability initiatives, reducing their environmental footprints, and developing environmentally beneficial strategies. The awards can be applied to multiple types of programs and projects reflected in the list below.
- Environmental and Sustainability Program
- Environmental and Sustainability Project
- Green Commonwealth
- Land Conservation
- Virginia Outdoors Plan Implementation
At the 2023 Environment Virginia Symposium, 12 winners were selected. Church & Dwight’s facility, a gold medal winner, was awarded for the facility’s full transition an ammonia and phosphorus-free chemistries, eliminating their emissions of ammonia and reducing consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, and lowering the chemical processing costs by 65% per 10,000 items produced.
