DOE Celebrates National Hydrogen, Fuel Cell Day with $30M Investment

The U.S. Energy Department (DOE) has released a new report showing continued growth in the fuel cell industry and, in honor of National Hydrogen Day, has announced a notice of intent to invest $30 million, subject to appropriations, to advance fuel cell and hydrogen technologies.

Detroit Diesel to Shell Out $28.5M for CAA Violations, Clean Diesel Projects

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) have announced a settlement with Detroit Diesel Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America, that resolves alleged violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) for selling heavy-duty diesel engines that were not certified by the EPA and did not meet applicable emission standards.

Richmond International Airport Converts Entire Shuttle Fleet to CNG

Richmond International Airport (RIC) has completed the conversion of its entire EasyPark parking shuttle fleet – 21 shuttles in all – to compressed natural gas (CNG).

According to RIC, the conversion from diesel to CNG shuttles represents an approximate $4.7 million investment in vehicles, a permanent fueling station and related infrastructural improvements to support CNG use.

EPA Offers $7M in Rebates to Reduce School Bus Emissions

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the availability of approximately $7 million in rebates to public school bus fleet owners to help them replace or retrofit older school buses with cleaner transportation technology, such as clean diesel, in order to reduce emissions and improve air quality.

USPS Announces $37M in Contracts to Build Next-Gen Delivery Vehicles

After a rigorous evaluation process, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) says it has awarded contracts to six prime suppliers that will produce 50 prototype vehicles as part of the next phase of the Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDVs) acquisition process.

Battery Electric Vehicles Now Approved for CMAQ Government Fleet Vehicle Incentive!

Virginia Clean Cities is pleased to announce that battery electric vehicles such as the Nissan LEAF and Chevy Bolt have been approved for the Government Fleet Vehicle Incentive. This program allows state agencies and local governments in CMAQ-areas to apply for a reimbursement of up to $10,000 per vehicle.

Hybrid-electric vehicles are not eligible for this Program at this time.
