If you are working on environmental justice and climate equity in Virginia, we are thrilled to extend an invitation to Resilient Virginia’s Climate Equity Listening Session on May 21st at South County Library in Roanoke (6303 Merriman Road, Roanoke, VA 24018). This event is part of their new program started last fall, the Resilient Virginia Collaborative Alliance (RVCA).
The Listening Session is open to anyone working on environmental justice and climate equity in Virginia so please feel free to invite others. Just make sure they RSVP. Lunch will be provided so please RSVP by completing the registration form.
Resilient Virginia is looking into the possibility of offering a virtual attendance option. If that is the only way you would be able to attend, please let them know when you RSVP.
Attendees who represent non-profit organizations will receive a meeting stipend in recognition of travel expenses and involvement with this meeting.
The RVCA is a cross-sector partnership of diverse organizations dedicated to addressing resiliency planning for communities in Central and Southwest Virginia. The collaborative is building regional capacity to address equity, economic, social, and climate challenges; creating a roadmap for regional climate resilience; and integrating climate mitigation and adaptation strategies to address challenges and take advantage of opportunities.
Resilient Virginia wants to ensure that environmental justice and climate equity are interwoven into everything the RVCA does. Therefore, they want to hear from those who are working on these efforts throughout the Commonwealth. They would like to know how the RVCA can best support and supplement on-going projects and programs; how they can integrate environmental justice and climate equity throughout the RVCA; and what gaps you see in the initiatives you are working in.
