U.S. Soy Delivers Sustainability to Cities

Purpose:

  • Allow fleet leaders to see the real-world uses of soy-biobased products that benefit sustainability, performance and worker health in Washington, D.C.
  • Highlight the importance of biobased products in advance of National Biobased Products Day that USDA BioPreferred® Program registered as March 8.
  • Make supply chain connections to support the use of soy-biobased products

commitment to the Mayor’s Climate Initiative and the staff participation in the American Lung Association’s Biobased Academy. Smithsonian Institution Associate Director Cargie Vaughn

discusses Smithsonian’s commitment to sustainability including use of Goodyear tires and plan to turnover tires with each repair.

1:15-1:25 p.m. Invited–U.S. Department of Agriculture speaker recognizes the role of National Biobased Products Day and the importance of biomanufacturing to America
1:25-1:30 p.m. Charlie Townsend introduces Angela Tin, American Lung Association National Senior Director Clean Air Initiatives
1:30 – 2 p.m. Angela Tin describes why the American Lung Association partnered with the United Soybean Board to launch the ALA Biobased Academy. Tin describes the value of the Academy for fleets
2:00–p.m.-2:15 p.m. Tin and USB Directors recognize fleets for completion of the ALA Biobased Academy
2:15-2:30 p.m. USB Directors welcome Parts Authority General Manager Pedro Layton as new Bio Ambassador. Also recognize DC Fleet Supervisor Tim Fitzgerald and ALA’s Angela Tin as Bio Ambassadors
