It’s the last week to apply to the Port of Virginia’s Go-Zero Program! This is a competitive program and an offshoot of the Green Operator Program. The Virginia Green Operator program is a public-private, voluntary program through the Port of Virginia that aims to reduce the amount of air pollution from drayage trucks in the state of Virginia. By incentivizing the purchase of new diesel trucks, the Port of Virginia is encouraging the replacement of old diesel vehicles that get fewer miles per gallon and have a greater rate of harmful emissions than recent, more advanced technology vehicles. The Go-Zero Program has further reduced the dangerous effects of diesel vehicles by providing funds to purchase zero-emission (ZEV) and near-zero-emission (NZEV) drayage trucks. It recognizes partners for achieving goals that reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases associated with cargo transport through The Port of Virginia. Incentives of up to $200,000 for each Zero Emission Vehicle purchased and up to $100,000 for each Near Zero Emission Vehicle purchased are available. Unlike the Green Operator Program, vehicle scrappage is not a requirement, but individuals and businesses that would like to scrap a qualifying truck will be eligible for an additional $25,000. This program’s application period is open from May 1, 2023 until July 31, 2023. Award winners will be announced during the Fall of 2023. Apply today!
