On May 19th, 2022, Cummins Inc., joined Virginia Clean Cities for the Technology Happy Hour. Patrick Campbell, Regional Sales Manager, for Cummins Alternative Technologies presented their new compressed natural gas (CNG) engine, the Cummins X15N.
Changes coming down the pipe in 2023 from EPA and CARB, and energy social and government (ESG) demands of private fleets have increased interest in natural gas as an alternative fuel source over recent years. With these shifts, Cummins is growing its regional and long-haul natural gas segments to bridge the current gaps between diesel and CNG engines in long-haul trucking. With an expected release date in 2024, Cummins is currently working on their new 15L long-haul low-emission natural gas engine, the X15N! This engine technology, when combined with renewable natural gas (RNG), can allow fleets to achieve near-zero or even carbon negative environmental goals.
