The U.S. Joint Office Releases New EV Playbook Modules

July 31, 2024

The US Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (Joint Office) added four new modules today on the topic of electric vehicle (EV) planning and the construction of zero-emission infrastructure. With these four new modules, the Joint Office doubles the size of their current Public EV Charging Infrastructure Playbook. The Public EV Charging Infrastructure Playbook was developed based on work by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and World Resources Institute. These organizations collaborated with communities on strategies for equitable and grid-friendly EV charging, incorporating lessons learned into the playbook.

The new modules include activities, videos, and resources on a variety of new topics, including:

  • Policies and incentives
  • Regulations for zoning, codes, and permitting
  • Procurement, ownership, and operation
  • Revenue and fee structures

The playbook now provides even more extensive guidance to help communities, governments, and other stakeholders plan and implement EV charging infrastructure. Featuring various resources created by experts in EV infrastructure, the expanded playbook supports decision-making for countless regions and needs across even more subjects.
