VCCA release 2020 Virginia Transportation Report

On October 28th, Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action released a report on Virginia Particulate matter (PM2.5) from transportation emissions. VCCA’s report discusses the adverse impacts of transportation pollution to Virginia’s health and the state’s economy. Conclusions of the report include staggering links to premature mortalities, hospital admissions, and other morbidities associated with transportation emissions.

Electric Vehicle Incentive Working Group Feasibility Report

Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, in cooperation with the Departments of Environmental Quality, Motor Vehicles, and Taxation launched a summer 2020 Electric Vehicle Incentive Working Group. The focus of this effort the feasibility of an electric vehicle rebate program for Virginia, under HB717. Group members are contributing to the what, why, and how an EV incentive could operate in Virginia.

GREET® Emissions 2020 Tool Update

The Argonne National Laboratory’s Systems Assessment Center has just announced the release of their 2020 Greenhouse gasses, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Technologies Model (GREET). Virginia Clean Cities, as well as other stakeholders, use this lifecycle fuel and price analysis model to  “simulate energy use and emissions output of various vehicle and fuel combinations”

2020 DERA School Bus Rebates Program Accepting Applications

From the EPAs Office of Transportation and Air Quality

The Environmental Protection Agency’s Diesel Emissions Reduction Act program has started accepting applications for rebates in assisting the replacement of decrepit school buses with new, greener alternatives. With over $10 million to award, the EPA will select fleets who scrap and replace their diesel buses. Rebate amount is determined by replacement fuel type, ranging between $20,000-$65,000 per bus. The Climate Mayors EV Purchasing Collaborative just announced the release of their newest PHEV vehicles: Toyota RAV4 Prime, 2021 Toyota Prius Prime, and 2021 Chrysler Pacifica! The Pacifica and RAV4 Prime for fleets that require smaller trips with a larger vehicle.
